EXPRESSED IMPACT

Dear Dr. Paul Barrett & Clinic Staff,

As a new patient at The Free Clinic I wish to thank you for the courteous and professional services rendered to me on Friday, January 18th in the Dental Clinic.

Two months ago, I went to a dentist in Greensboro to have one tooth extracted. On the day of my appointment, I arrived at his office with my tooth aching and cash in hand prepared to pay his fee of $125.00. Unbeknownst to me, he had increased his fee to $150.00 and I was unable to pay the additional $25.00. So he refused to extract the tooth.

I left his office feeling somewhat discouraged, dejected and poor; hardly able to believe that this dentist who had previously performed dental services for me would not accept 83% of his fee from me in cash, with my promise to pay the balance in two weeks.

What seemed to me to be so very bad that day, when I struggled to hold back my tears, has turned to good, however.

I cannot allow this opportunity to pass without letting you know how greatly I appreciate you extracting not just one tooth – but 3 that needed to be removed from my mouth.

The Free Clinic is the chance to come in contact with the nicest people in the world who care for your wellbeing. They have the greatest personalities, and they truly, truly care about you. What else can you say? It’s the best place in Reidsville that I know of, and I don’t know what people would do without this place.

My bottom teeth had rotted out because of the medicine I had been taking. The Free Clinic gave me the opportunity to take seven teeth out for free, and Dr. Bolton did a wonderful job. I had no pain, and I could go ahead with my normal life. When I came to The Clinic, I was waiting to have my leg amputated and had to get my infected teeth pulled before I could have my surgery and get my prosthetic leg. I am now on a list to get dentures thru The Free Clinic. My wife, Mary, has also had a tooth fixed by Dr. Bolton. She had been turned down at other places because she was my caregiver and not in the work force. It’s the service you get at The Clinic that makes the difference.

My husband and I always had medical insurance but suddenly found ourselves unable to obtain affordable coverage.

Diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in my 30s, I had no doctor or any way to continue my medications. A friend from Reidsville recommended the Clinic.

I can now get my medicine, have routine chronic illness appointments as well as receive dental treatment.

The Clinic has been a blessing to me and my husband.

I’m the husband who wouldn’t be alive today without the Free Clinic of Rockingham County.

After enduring shoulder and neck pain for months, I went to the Clinic. The staff there immediately diagnosed my problem as heart related.

I went through two heart catherizations, had angioplasty and four stents implanted.

I owe the Clinic a debt.

The cardiologist told my wife that he had not seen as many severely blocked arteries without the patient already suffering a heart attack.

The entire Clinic staff has invested in me. I receive follow-up treatment there as well as receiving my monthly heart medication.

I have experienced community in action and am grateful to live, work and raise my family in such a spirit of old-fashion America, where people really do matter to one another.
